Then this is an excellent opportunity for you to join BHP's Portfolio Strategy & Development (PS&D) function. The PS&D team is comprised of over 150 employees around the world with expertise across Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), Business Development, Decision Evaluation, Venture Investments, Corporate Planning and Strategy. This role sits within the Transaction Analysis team, whose purpose is to ensure the decision-making and evaluation of every acquisition, divestment and new business development opportunity undertaken by BHP is clear, well informed and backed up by robust, high quality analysis. We are seeking candidates at Specialist level to join our team with both full-time and part-time opportunities available in Brisbane or Perth.

Reporting to the Head of Transaction Analysis, the Specialist Transaction Analysis will come from a diverse range of backgrounds including consulting, investment banking, corporate finance, law or engineering. Irrespective of background, they will be able to offer commercial insight, analytical expertise, strategic thinking, understand industry trends and have strong communication and leadership skills. Their primary accountabilities will be to provide financial analysis to evaluate corporate M&A opportunities and business development opportunities to support the shaping of BHP’s future portfolio. Working with internal and external cross-functional transaction teams, they will be required to influence and challenge thinking, and clearly articulate outputs and insights to senior management and other key stakeholders.

About You

  • You will have successfully completed a business related or technical undergraduate degree, with a broadening post graduate qualification in a finance related discipline viewed favourably.
  • You will be able to demonstrate strong business acumen, with experience providing financial analysis to support investment decisions, and a deep understanding of financial modelling and valuation techniques.
  • You have strong presentation and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to structure and present complex ideas and information in a simple, articulate, balanced and persuasive way
  • You are able to build rapport and establish credibility through your strong technical ability and engaging style, allowing you to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Energetic and driven, you work well under pressure, bringing attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines.
  • Experience within the resources, manufacturing or other process-driven industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
